SEE THIS BIRD HERE?

this bird is a new caledonian crow

image

AND this “bird brain” may be the most intelligent animal on earth.

oh what’s that you say? what about the other intelligent animals?

Dolphins? naw

Great apes? take a back seat

cu’z this Corvid shows behaviors not even seen in either of those fools!

Not only does this motherfucker use tools, have complex problem solving skills and pass on its learned skills  to other crows

image

but, it also makes its own tools

yeah you read that right!

THEY MAKE TOOLS

image

yeah you see that little hook right there?

WELL a crow cut and preened that twig to have that hook, so it can use it to hook grubs out of holes in trees!

image

Do You know what other animal is documented to take items in their surroundings and modify them to improve their productivity?

No?

well that would be right

BECAUSE NOT EVEN CHIMPANZEES HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED TO HAVE THIS SKILL.

oh wait but that’s not all!

image

These bird also modify leaves as tools, but depending on the individual groups(murders)

they will create the tools in different ways

yeah that’s right!

image

these crows develop tools for similar jobs differently depending on their social groups

do you know what that can be compared to?

CULTURE!!!

these birds have CULTURE!!!

oh but THAT’S NOT ALL FOLKS!

its believed that these birds improve the efficiency of their tools over time and generations MEANING THEY IMPROVE ON THEIR DESIGN IN ORDER TO PROBLEM SOLVE MORE EFFICIENTLY.

So? we got all that?

 new caledonian crows:

Are complex problem solvers and can solve problems that consist of more than one part to reach a reward.

image

(this feathery fiend here just finished solving an 8 part puzzle to get his snack!)

They share learned skills and knowledge with other crows in their social group

image

they also modify sticks and leaves in order to create better tools!

image

and each group has its own method for creating tools and the ability to adapt tools over time to make them more effective!

SO TELL ME AGAIN WHY “BIRD BRAIN" IS AN INSULT?

That was super nice of them.
And now I’m mad that nobody told us we were given cows. Cause that’s really f*cking nice and nobody mentioned it at all.

American media tends to disregard that anyone donates to the US. And then Amurricans complain about money going abroad because “nobody helped the US in our disasters.”
>.>
Also, do you know how much a cow costs? O.O

It isn’t just a matter of how much a cow costs, its a matter of considering that Masai life is based around their cattle. Its their wealth, their food, and a significant part of their religion. Here’s a quote from Wikipedia:
“Traditional Maasai lifestyle centres around their cattle which constitute their primary source of food. The measure of a man’s wealth is in terms of cattle and children. A herd of 50 cattle is respectable, and the more children the better. A man who has plenty of one but not the other is considered to be poor.[37] A Maasai religious belief relates that God gave them all the cattle on earth, leading to the belief that rustling cattle from other tribes is a matter of taking back what is rightfully theirs, a practice that has become much less common.[38]”
So its not just “they gave us 14 cows”, its that they gave us something that is very important and significant to them, it is more than just a kind gesture that definitely deserves to be known and its a genuine shame that more people don’t know about it.
